On Tuesday, the Pentagon announced a lockdown of their building following a shooting at the nearby subway station. Authorities have announced that no one will be allowed into the building and advised local residents to avoid the area.
As soon as shooting was heard, police forces were mobilised and facilities were shut down, with subway trains also stopped to avoid any more people coming into the area.
“The Pentagon currently is on lock down due to an incident at the Pentagon Transit Center,” the Pentagon posted on social media.
“We are asking the public to please avoid the area. More information will be forthcoming,”
The lockdown was lifted an hour later, but some areas and the Metro entrance remained closed for investigations.
