The Management of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) Lagos Directorate, led by its Director, Mr. Waheed Ishola, on Friday, October 8, 2021, paid an advocacy visit to the Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr David Olusegun Odunmbaku in his office.

Addressing the council boss on the purpose of the visit, Waheed commended the conducive working environment and the huge building projects ongoing within the council secretariat in less than 100 days in office.

To maintain the momentum and create synergy of better working relationships, he requested a joint programme on “Good Governance” for the three arms of government as political office holders, so that each would know their powers and limitations of such powers. He further took time to explain the role and activities of the agency at the local level, such as: educating, sensitizing and mobilizing the people on government programmes, policies and activities with a feedback mechanism.

The Director appealed to the council chair to engage the services of the agency’s staff at the council because they are there to serve his administration and indirectly raise the revenue base. “All that is required is a work van with a public address system once in a while for them to do their job.”

He used the occasion to brief the council boss on some of the laudable intervention programmes of the present government, like the GEEP 2.0 and on how the council can tap into it for the benefit of the people irrespective of party affiliation.

Waheed promised the agency’s preparedness to assist the local council in propagating its programs and activities in the grassroots area.

In his remark, Odunmbaku thanked the management team for finding time to visit the council area. He noted that the meeting was very refreshing with an in-depth understanding of issues. As one who sees himself as being privileged to serve the people, he said that he needs all the collaboration and synergy needed to create a different narrative.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to support the agency, towards carrying out its programmes and activities in the council area with a statutory obligation to see that the directors’ requirements are granted for the good of the people.
