Netflix Orders A Second Season Of Arcane To Release In 2023

It’s been a wild season for Netflix’s Arcane, the one videogame-based show that was done great. Inspired by the famous ‘League of Legends’ franchise, this story takes us into the era that predates the videogames’ story. Here we meet sisters Vi and Powder, who take us into a wild sci-fi adventure that completely defies what we knew about stories translated from videogames to the screen. Contrary to its predecessors, Arcane triumphs spectacularly to deliver one of the most impressive shows of 2021. It seriously would be wild if this doesn’t get nominated for multiple awards.

After the final three episodes streamed on Netflix on Saturday November 20, the streaming platform decided to make the announcement of a season 2 that’s coming. Unfortunately, Riot Games CEO also confirmed that production will take them more than it usually takes for a renewed show to happen. Given that they took six years to create the first season of Arcane, Nicolo Laurent did offer solace in the fact that Season 2 won’t take developers as long to create. However, the show won’t come out until 2023 because delivering such a high quality product takes a long time.

Has Arcane saved videogame adaptations?

Judging on how masterfully crafted this show is, we can rest easy that more videogame developers might feel safer lending their IPs to streaming services such as Netflix. They truly created a masterpiece that will be talked about for generations to come within the sci-fi world. This might be a great opportunity for Netflix to approach Nintendo with the idea to possibly bring one of the most beloved videogames to their service and od it the justice it deserves: The Legend of Zelda series. If Arcane could bring this level of storytelling to the screen, imagine what Netflix will be able to do with Link and Zelda if they are granted the license.
