Motorists, Commuters, Residents Praise Fashola Over Ibadan Road Rehabilitation
The level of construction works at the notorious Iwo Road axis of Ibadan, Oyo State that has been giving motorists, commuters and the residents migraine for long time is now assuming an aesthetic status, courtesy the Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), who appears to have vowed to break the jinx of the portion that has defied rehabilitation all this while.
An Ibo petty trader around the bad portion, Mrs Ngozi Chukwuemeka Silvanus told our correspondent that, with the determination of Fashola to deal with whatever demon living in that area, it seems the end of that demon has come, showering praises on the Minister, describing him as “God sent.”
A northerner and shoemaker under the bridge around the axis, Mallam Umaru Garba Alkali described Fashola severally as “a good man, a lover of masses and hard worker,” adding that, the way he put himself in the work, you will think that his whole life depends on it.
He therefore thank the Federal Government of Muhammadu Buhari for good jobs he has been doing on development of infrastructure, admitting that, some of the projects are making life more abundant for the citizenry.
A commercial driver Mathew Ayeniromo told our man that if Fashola finishes his work there, the time being wasted around the portion would reduce drastically, pointing out that, “at this period of fuel scarcity, it makes no sense to experience traffic jam that always lead to avoidable burning of gas.”
On medical ground, Ayeniromo expressed the delights that, visiting the hospital or pharmacies will also reduce and one will save money and also remain healthy, adding that, “it is not always that we will be abusing the government, whatever the case, if those in government do well, we should have the courage to praise them.”
A cart puller, Yerima Bagudu from Kebbi State enthused that, the stress the bad portion always causes them will soon become part of history, praising Buhari and Fashola for “remembering us, at least, it is better late than never.”
The pace and speed the construction works are going on around the axis, according to our reporter, it will not take long before the nightmare being experienced there would become a pass tense as activities are going on progressively.
