Chelsea Foundation coach Tom Horrigan will be given the honour of handing the Premier League trophy to outgoing captain John Terry and Gary Cahill on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old will be handed the unique opportunity after being nominated as his club’s Premier League Kicks Hero, part of the competition’s decade-old social inclusion initiative.

Horrigan has been involved with Chelsea since the age of 12, volunteering at the club for several years before eventually joining the Foundation, which runs the Blues’ education and community schemes, to work as a coach.

He said: “I’m made up to be named the Premier League Kicks Hero for Chelsea. It’s a fantastic honour and I love the comic book that’s been drawn to show my journey through Kicks. It shows a lot of the most important moments in my life. This is after Chelsea also nominated me to receive the Peter Osgood award this year for my community work. It’s all a bit surreal!
