Mbappe, Neymar Secure Three Points For PSG Against Montpellier

Paris Saint-Germain extended their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table with a convincing 4-0 win over Montpellier at the Parc des Princes.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men midway through the first half when Jonas Omlin’s yellow card for a foul on Kylian Mbappe was upgraded to a red after a VAR review.

Montpellier were forced to replace an outfield player to bring on a substitute goalkeeper and it wasn’t long before Dimitry Bertaud was beaten.

Mbappe’s dinked finish gave PSG the lead at half time before Mauricio Pochettino’s side blitzed their opponents in the space of four minutes in the second half.

Neymar scored the first of three goals in as many minutes, with further strikes coming from Mauro Icardi and Mbappe.

Layvin Kurzawa came close to completing the rout in style in the closing stages but his spectacular overhead kick rattled the crossbar.

The win takes PSG three points clear of second place Lille in Ligue 1, though their title challengers are yet to play this weekend.
