Manchester United Win Newcastle Old Trafford

Manchester United compounded Newcastle’s woes with a 3-1 win at Old Trafford on Sunday.

After a 4-0 hammering of Real Sociedad in Turin on Thursday,Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side carried their midweek momentum into Sunday evening.

Marcus Rashford made and finished the game’s opener with half an hour played. The Englishman nutmegged Emil Krafth before finding space and scoring at the near post.

But that lead wasn’t to last, as Allan Saint-Maximin levelled five minutes later. A short corner was only half cleared by Harry Maguire and Saint-Maximin was nicely placed to fire in the equaliser.

It took just over 10 second half minutes for United to get back in front, though, and there was no real surprise to see Bruno Fernandes involved. The Portuguese found Daniel James, who had time to set himself up before converting.

Rashford was then brought down for a late penalty that Bruno Fernandes scored to make it three.

The Magpies’ supporters have long been frustrated with Steve Bruce’s management of the club and that won’t have been helped by a second half in which they conceded twice to sit just three points out of the relegation zone.
