Martin Odegaard made his Arsenal debut from the bench as the Gunners were held to a 0-0 draw with Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
In a game of very few chances, Alexandre Lacazette’s freekick which hit the crossbar was the closest either side came to taking the lead.
The match already seemed to be lumbering towards a goalless draw when Real Madrid loanee Odegaard replaced Emile Smith Rowe with seven minutes to go.
United had an opportunity to earn all three points in the final minutes but Edinson Cavani couldn’t guide his volley goalwards from Aaron Wan Bissaka’s cross.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are now three points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, who have a game in hand on their city rivals.
Arsenal, meanwhile, climb above Chelsea into eighth place with the draw. Thomas Tuchel’s team host Burnley on Sunday.
