Manchester United Beat Fulham To Retain Top Spot

It was yet another comeback win for Manchester United on the road on Wednesday night against Fulham, as Edinson Cavani and Paul Pogba helped the Reds to retain top spot in the Premier League.

Rivals Manchester City had put pressure on United just before kick off after they sealed a 2-0 win over Aston Villa to move momentarily top of the table.

And that pressure appeared to get to United as they went 1-0 down after just nine minutes, with Ademola Lookman putting the hosts ahead.

Yet it was far from an unfamiliar situation for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, who had won six of their away league games this season after trailing.

Cavani drew United level on 21 minutes after Bruno Fernandes’ cross was parried into the Uruguayan’s path by former Real Madrid goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

It then seemed a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ for the visitors who continued to pile on the pressure.

The winner eventually arrived through Pogba, who atoned for his late miss against Liverpool with a confident left-footed strike on 65 minutes.

United move back to the top of the table with the result, although City are just two points behind and having played a game less
