England had to rely on a goal from Harry Maguire goal in the 85th minute to beat Poland at Wembley Stadium in World Cup qualification on Wednesday night.

Harry Kane initially gave the Three Lions the lead from the penalty spot in the 19th minute before Jakub Molder levelled things up 13 minutes after the half-time break. Then, Maguire scored late on to secure the three points for England.

Gareth Southgate put out a strong England team, yet they were made to struggle against Poland, who were without star man Robert Lewandowski due to injury.

England had the lion’s share of the possession and outshot Poland 10-4, with it being 4-1 in terms of shots on target.

Curiously, before a ball had been kicked, an interesting image was pictured as the England players kneeled in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, while the Poland players remained standing.

This 2-1 victory means that England are top of Group I with nine points from nine, while Poland are fourth on four points, having won one, drawn one and lost one.
