Liverpool Taste Another Defeat At Anfield

Liverpool suffered yet another disappointing defeat as they went down 1-0 to Brighton at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The loss is their second in a row at home, having fallen 1-0 to Burnley last month. Jurgen Klopp’s side haven’t scored a goal at Anfield since their 1-1 draw with West Brom on December 27, and are without a win there since December 16.

Wednesday was a very different performance to much of the Reds’ recent disappointments though, and while they dominated Burnley but came up short, they were a long way from their best against Brighton.

Ten minutes into the second half, a deep ball picked out Dan Byrne and he teed up Steven Alzate to finish off and claim his first Premier League goal.

Young goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher was called into action to make a good save later on to keep Liverpool in the game, but they were unable to fight back.

Liverpool stay fourth and seven points behind Manchester City, with a game more played than the leaders. Brighton, meanwhile, climbed into 15th with the win.
