There are a lot of controversy sorrounding the death of the Nasarawa state house of assembly member representing Nasarawa central late Sulieman Adamu who is alleged to have died of COVID-19.
Speaking through a recorded video which is being circulated on the social media , the younger brother of the late member, Ibrahim Adamu Maigoro express doubt that his elder brother died of the dreaded pandemic.
According to him “if it is true that he died of coronavirus, why will the governor come to this house, he came  and sat down on his seat.
“We are appealing to this government if they are serious about what they are saying, they should come here and take care of our lives, they also said that the late member’s son was positive before his sample was taken, please Nasarawa state government should not use us and source for money from the federal government” Maigoro said in a video
Our correspondent gathered that the sample of the wife of the late member and his five children were taken and returned negative, the sample of his close associates and aids were also taken and returned negative.
Nation equally gathered that the sample of the 23 house of assembly members who had close contact with the late member were taken and all tested negative.
Contrary to speculations that the late member travelled to Kano and Abuja, our correspondent gathered from family source that late member did not travel out in the last three months.
But speaking recently on the effort of the state government to trace the contact of the late member, Governor Abdullahi Sule said his government is making serious efforts to trace contact of the late member.
According to him “The member hails from Nasarawa LG, he had his family there, his home there and  that is also his local government because he came from Ara , a town close to Nasarawa town.
“Unfortunately, when his sample was taken but before we got the result, he passed away, a lot of people who were around had no idea of what the result will be, the body was therefore handed to the family and they decided to bury according to Muslim rites.
“Handling the body, washing the body, dressing the body and all the usual rituals associated with the burial, as a result of that , a lot of contact were made.
“We have identified 74 contacts, either at the burial or while he was at the hospital when the body was being carried or his family.
“We separated the contacts into three and the biggest of the contacts were members of the state assembly who sat with him during the period and his immediate family.
“The only way we can protect the entire town, so that people don’t move around and infect others was to luckdown the entire town, that is the essence of locking down the local government and we are trying to ensure that we test every contact” he said
At the weekend, the governor announce 13 additional new cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the number of cases to 25 and one death.

He revealed that the other 9 new cases are returnees from Lagos and Kano states, adding that some members of the state  house of assembly whose sample was taking have all tested negative.
