The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council joins the rest of the world to celebrate women as the year 2024 International Women’s Day is marked globally today.

The theme ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’ is timely and apt, as it seeks to showcase women as precious jewels who are highly productive in all spheres.

Against this backdrop, Mr.Adeleye Ajayi, Chairman, NUJ Lagos Council, has tasked both the private and public sectors to invest more in women thereby giving way to national growth and development.

“It is no longer news that women are like bridges that connect and uphold any country, hence their roles cannot be downplayed.

“Women must continue to be at the roundtable where decisions to help shape the world are discussed” Ajayi said.

The Chairman further urged women to continue to pray for Nigeria so that peace can return to all our communities.

“If you ask me, I will tell you that beyond being top business managers of many establishments, women are also better prayer warriors than men.

“This is why we cannot do without women in the society and at the home front where they are doing everything possible to keep the family safe, ” he said.

According to him, Lagos NUJ on its part will continue to support gender-based policies geared towards development of women and the society at large.

Ajayi said, “We also rejoice with all NAWOJIANS of Lagos Chapter, while hoping that the days ahead will be fruitful and prosperous to them all.”
