The management of Radio Lagos/Eko FM has been called upon to educate Lagosians on the need to collect their voter’s cards as the deadline for collection expires on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

The call was made in Ikeja today when a delegation of the Publicity Directorate of the Independent Campaign Council (ICC), Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) paid a courtesy visit to the management.

The Deputy Director of the Directorate, Mrs Funke Moore, who led the delegation noted that there were thousands of voter’s cards waiting to be collected, saying that owners of these cards would be automatically disenfranchised if the cards are not collected before the deadline.

Mrs Moore said the management should mount an aggressive campaign on voter education as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

According to her: “The process of registration as a voter is inconclusive if the voter’s cards are not collected, it’s the card that gives citizens the power to vote for candidates of their choice.”

“The Independent Campaign Council (ICC) of Lagos APC has also embarked on a massive media campaign to encourage its supporters and well-wishers to get their voter’s cards.”

She boasted that APC is sure of victory in the state but would want to win convincingly by taking more than 80% of the votes cast.

Mrs Moore commended the management of the radio station for publicizing the many programmers and achievements of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu whom she described as Mr Actualizer.

This, she said is exemplified in the completion of the Lagos Blue Rail Project which was recently commissioned. The Blue Rail, she said would transport over two hundred thousand passengers daily.

Mrs Moore also spoke on the Presidential election scheduled to come up on the 25th of February. She is of the opinion that the APC flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the man that can bring about a positive change for Nigeria. “Asiwaju will put an end to insecurity, poverty, inflation and hopelessness in the country,” she said.

In his response, the General Manager of Radio Lagos/Eko FM, Mr Jide Lawal, acknowledged the enormous achievements of Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu since he assumed office in 2019. He agreed that Sanwo-Olu is indeed Mr Actualizer.

Mr Lawal said nonetheless that the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) forbade media organizations from favouring any candidate over others. He explained further that his organization would provide a level playing ground for all the candidates.

The GM, however, promised to mount discussion programmes on the collection of PVCs and voter education in general.
