KWSG To Support Farmers With N1billion In 2018

The Kwara State Government has pledged to support genuine farmers with N1billion in 2018 fiscal year in order to boost agriculture production in the state and creat employment.

Information made to journalists by Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Media, Dr. Muyideen Akorede in Ilorin on Thursday revealed the state government plan to sustain achievements recorded in Agriculture sector in 2017 under the Off-takers Demand Driven Agricultural program (ODDA) by facilitating credit facilities for genuine and registered farmers across Kwara State through CBN Anchor Borrowers Scheme.

Dr. Akorede said Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed led administration will prioritize Agriculture sector in 2018 to reduce unemployment and creat jobs for thousands of youth through various agricultural initiatives of the state.

He added that the state government will provide agricultural inputs, fertilizers, seedlings and land acquisition for farming to farmers across the State this year.

The Governor’s Media Aide said the Kwara AgroMall will also continue with its various activities for farmers in the provision of farm inputs, improved seeds, extension services and also fast-track linkages between Off-takers and famers through value chain and effective marketing strategy.

On economic development, Kwara State promised to stimulate the informal sector of the economy, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the State will be supported with the provision of micro-credit to the tune of N500m.

The state government will also enhance the provision of potable water in the state in order to ensure realization of the 500 meters water access goal of governor’s Ahmed administration as captured in 2018 budget.

Akorede noted that the expansion, renewal and maintenance of water supply infrastructure and services in the state will be pursued with vigour in this fiscal year.

On New Secretariat, the state government gave assurance that the project will be completed this year to put an end to problem of acute shortage of office space being experience by civil servants.
