Wife of Kogi State Governor, Her Excellency, Mrs. Rashida Bello’s commitment to the welfare of Kogi people and her passion for the children prompted her to taking children off the streets today on Lokoja-Jamata Bridge along Abuja road.
Her Excellency, expressed dismay at the way the children’s lives were being endangered by hawking on the highway, and the fact that this makes them susceptible to child abuse.
Her Excellency, who went with the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Honorable Mrs. Bolanle Amupitan assured the children that Kogi State Government will take them off the streets and back to school or make them acquire skills to ensure a brighter future for them.
For a start, arrangements are being made to take some of about 20 children back to school and others to skills acquisition centers.
