Concerned people of Owan on Wednesday, strongly condemned the demolition of the property belonging to the former Secretary to Edo State Government, Professor Julius Ihonvbere by the State government on the order of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Addressing journalists in Benin, Comrade Ohis Ahmed said the group is seriously worried with the way and manner of Governor Godwin Obaseki disobedience to the rule of law.

He said with valid evidence available to them, Professor Julius Ihonvbere the current member representing Owan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly have a valid C of O, a building plan issued and approved by the Obaseki’s government.

Ahmed pointed out that the pulling down of Professor Ihonvbere’s building, is a pure political vendetta and a show of executive rascality that will surely turn against the Governor in due time.

Obaseki in a revenge mission against oppositions in the state, has carried out his earlier threats to demolish properties belonging to APC chieftains in the state.

This ugly, inhuman act, is taking precedent above high rise in insecurity, kidnapping, banditry, cultism in the state which clearly shown that the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has left governance for politics of bitterness and witch-hunting,

The Edo State Government on Tuesday evening, carried out the demolition of Prof. Ihonvbere’s property located along Edo Osagie street, GRA, Benin City. The plot of land duly procured with an approved C-of- O by the Edo State Government, was brought down by agents of the state government with heavily armed security personnel.

“It is shameful and sad that Godwin Obaseki has abandoned his constitutional responsibilities to chase oppositions in the state by destroying their properties. It is clear that, he has no regard for the Judiciary, neglecting the fact that the case is before the court and hearings are still been carried out.”

Apart from Prof. Ihonvbere’s house, the governor equally demolished two other houses; one belonging to the former Edo State deputy Governor Pius Odubu and the second belonging Mike Etemuagbon.
