Joint Bid Between Italy, Saudi Arabia For The 2030 World Cup

The plans for the 2030 World Cup venue have already begun and a surprise joint bid to host the competition has emerged, one between Saudi Arabia and Italy.

Saudi Arabia would consider hosting the tournament alone, however their main aim is to partner with another nation.

That’s according to The Athletic, who also explain that Egypt and Morocco are potential options in a move which would unite the football confederations of Africa and Asia. However, the main problem would be that both countries would need new infrastructure. For this reason, a European partner would be the best option to compete against the joint bid of England and Ireland.

On Thursday, Italian federation president Gabriele Gravina said at a press conference that the country is evaluating the potential possibility.

The intentions of both countries are set and their commercial ties, both at a political and sporting level, could be the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship.

Saudi Arabia has taken an enormous step in hosting sporting events since the heavyweight title fight between Andy Ruiz and Anthony Joshua, as well as the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this year.
