Inter Milan Sit Top After Making Mourinho’s Return To Stadio Giuseppe Meazza An Unhappy One
Jose Mourinho did not enjoy his return to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as his Roma side were on the end of a 3-1 thrashing from Simone Inzaghi’s team. Inter threatened from early on but couldn’t break the deadlock until the half hour mark, when a rapid counter attack allowed Denzel Dumfries to slot the ball under goalkeeper Rui Patricio to score.
A second followed shortly after thanks to incredible footwork from Marcelo Brozovic inside the box, which opened up space for him to fire the ball into the top corner.
In the second half, it was a more direct approach as striker Lautaro Martinez rose highest to score a header from a corner and seal the win for the Nerazurri.
Roma did secure a consolation goal thanks to a late cut-back to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, whose powerful shot hit the roof of the net.
The result means that Inter remain one point clear ahead of their arch rivals AC Milan, with five games left to play in Serie A.
