Haaland Double Not Enough As Dortmund Fall To Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Dortmund dropped out of the Champions League places in the Bundesliga after a 4-2 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday night.

The warning signs were there early on for the visitors at Borussia Park, with Florian Neuhaus having a goal disallowed inside the first minute after a VAR review.

Nico Elvedi gave Gladbach the lead after 11 minutes before a typically clinical double from Erling Haaland tipped the game in Dortmund’s favour.

There were to be further twists to the contest, though, as goals from Elvedi and Ramy Bensebaini either side of half time saw the hosts retake the lead.

A disjointed Dortmund struggled to get back into the match in the second half, conceding a fourth goal when Marcus Thuram nodded in a corner.

The win takes Gladbach above Dortmund in the Bundesliga table, with the hosts finishing the day in fourth and the visitors in fifth.
