Germany Waltz Iceland Without Kroos
Germany had no trouble against Iceland, even without Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos, as they got their World Cup qualification campaign underway with a comprehensive 3-0 victory.
Leon Goretzka, Kai Havertz and Ilkay Gundogan grabbed Germany’s goals on the night, helping the side to the win.
Joachim Low will leave his post at the end of the European Championship, but the 2014 world champions look in good shape to continue after his departure.
Chelsea’s Havertz operated as a false No.9, with Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry flanking him on either side. Goretzka and Havertz both scored in the opening seven minutes, but Gundogan didn’t add their third until the second half.
