Liverpool were unable to take advantage of Chelsea’s loss and Tottenham dropping points at Crystal Palace earlier this weekend, as they stumbled to a 1-1 draw of their own away at Fulham on Sunday evening.
A win would have seen Jurgen Klopp’s side leapfrog Jose Mourinho’s Spurs into top spot after the Londoners had failed to win at Crystal Palace, but the Reds themselves were frustrated away to a side in the bottom half of the table.
Fulham, who sit just outside the relegation zone in 17th place, took a shock lead in the first half through Bobby Reid, and stood relatively firm from there on.
Liverpool’s equaliser came from the penalty spot, with Mohamed Salah converting in the 79th minute.
The win leaves the Premier League champions level on 25 points with Spurs ahead of their meeting at Anfield on Wednesday evening.
