Enrique Riquelme Pulls Out Of Real Madrid’s Presidential Elections, Florentino Perez Will Serve Sixth Term

Florentino Perez will face no competition for a sixth term as Real Madrid president after Enrique Riquelme pulled out of the running.

Riquelme was the only club member who was thinking of running against the current president, but he has cited the timing of the elections as an obstacle to presenting a campaign.

“The unfair advancement of the elections, which historically take place in the summer, and the dates during which they are to be held, Semana Santa, have prevented me from presenting my bid and launching a campaign that connects with members and allows me to explain my project for Real Madrid,” Riquelme’s statement read.

“I will keep working on the best bid possible for a Real Madrid 3.0.”

As a result, Florentino Perez will be sworn in as Real Madrid president for a sixth time when his next term begins on Tuesday, unless any other bids for the presidency are made before then.
