In line with Governor Godwin Obaseki’s drive to make Edo a hub for Information Communication Technology (ICT) and innovation talent in Nigeria, leading software engineering firm, Decagon, has concluded the screening of candidates for the Edo Tech Park.

The park, set to open in Benin City, is aimed at training at least 15,000 top-rate tech talents that would work remotely from the city for clients across the world.

Managing Director of Edo State Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs), Mrs. Ukinebo Dare, said the training programme is the first of its kind in the state and would leverage the over 400km fibre optic cable infrastructure to groom top-of-the-range tech engineers that can compete globally.

According to her, “Our partner on the Edo Tech Park project, Decagon has completed screening of candidates for the Edo Tech Park programme. Very soon, the first cohort would move into the campus to commence intensive 6-month training that would prepare them to work for clients across the globe.

“The project is in line with Governor Obaseki’s plan to make the state a hub for human capacity development, so that companies can tap from the resources in the state to service global clients.”

She noted that the state governor has ensured that the right environment is created for the development of indigenous tech talents.
