Edo Boosts Reforms In Health Sector, Distributes 3 Hilux Vans To Health Insurance Commission, Others

Poised to strengthen reforms in the state’s healthcare sector, the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration in partnership with Saving One Million Lives Programme, has distributed three Hilux vans to the State Health Insurance Commission, Department of Medical Services and the state’s Primary Healthcare Development Agency.

During the handing-over ceremony, representative of the state governor and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Osawonyi Irowa urged heads of the benefiting agencies and departments to put the vehicles to effective use and improve service delivery to Edo people.

He noted, “The vehicles were bought by the Edo State Government in collaboration and support from the Saving One Million Lives Programme to strengthen the delivery of healthcare services. The governor graciously approved for the health sector to have vehicles to carry out its activities.

“It is in this regard that three Hilux vans have been bought and distributed to the Director General, Edo Health Insurance Commission, Dr. Amegor Rock; the Director, Medical Services, Ministry of Health, Dr. Helen Eboreime, and the Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Erhabor Julie.

Irowa said the governor has played a vital role in ensuring that the health sector in the state is fully operational and able to deliver on its mandate, noting that “the governor has directed that the vehicles be released to ensure responsive service delivery.

“The vehicles are to be used by the various beneficiaries in ensuring that the services in the healthcare sector are improved, as well as ensuring effective and efficient services that will improve the health of Edo people. We thank the governor for empowering the healthcare sector through the provision of these vehicles.”

Responding, the Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Julie Erhabor expressed appreciation to the governor for the gesture, assuring that the benefitting agencies and department will deliver on the mandates by utilising the vehicles to strengthen the activities of the healthcare sector for effective and efficient service delivery.
