Harry Kane, Harry Maguire and second-half substitute Jordan Henderson all got on the scoresheet as England secured a comfortable 4-0 victory over Ukraine at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, which rubber stamps the Three Lions’ place in the semi-finals at Euro 2020.

England hit the ground running and took the lead just four minutes in, with Raheem Sterling producing a brilliant assist to set up Kane, who beat Georgiy Bushchan and slotted it home.

Roman Yaremchuk took advantage of a Kyle Walker misplaced pass in midfield, but after an individual move he failed to hit the back of the net as Jordan Pickford thwarted it away.

The Three Lions were dominant before the break, while Ukraine looked threatening on the counter but lacked a final pass to create more danger in front of Pickford’s goal.

England started off the second half as they had done in the first and doubled their lead through Maguire, who headed home a Luke Shaw free kick from the left-hand side.

Gareth Southgate’s men seemed willing to avoid surprises by putting the game to bed early, and Shaw produced another assist to tee up Kane, who sent it past Bushchan with a close-range header.

Kane failed to do the same just after the hour mark as Bushchan got two hands to his terrific volley, but substitute Henderson headed home the subsequent corner with one of his first touches in the match to make it 4-0 and seal the victory.

The Three Lions, who have yet to concede a single goal in the tournament, will face Denmark in their semi-final tie, one which will take place at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday, July 7, at 21:00 CEST.
