With his latest purchase, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to lay the foundations for a solid business structure once his career in football comes to an end.
The Portuguese forward has bought the Casa del Libro bookstore building on Gran Via, with the intention of converting it into a hotel.
It is the oldest bookstore in the city and is a beautiful building, having been designed by architect Jose Yarnoz Larrosa.
After seeing his clothing, perfume and footwear brands all achieving incredible success, Ronaldo is now turning his focus to the hotel business.
The plan is to open four exclusive hotels in New York, Madeira, Lisbon and Madrid and he is in partnership with the Portuguese company Pestana, who already have a presence in 15 countries throughout the world.
A deal was signed with the owners of the Madrid-based property, which will allow Ronaldo to transform the building into an exclusive nine-story hotel.
It also seems as though the former Manchester United star has reserved the ninth floor and will make it his home.
There will be a total of 500 rooms across all four of the hotels he’ll own, and the cost is estimated at around 80 million euros.
