Cristiano Ronaldo Makes Shock Return To Manchester United

It may have seemed late on Thursday night that Cristiano Ronaldo was about to sign for Manchester City, but a dramatic turn of events have seen the Portuguese forward agree terms with his former Premier League club Manchester United. The Red Devils then officially announced the No.7’s return to Old Trafford on Friday evening.

Personal terms, visa details and a medical must all still be organised, but an agreement has been struck and Ronaldo will move from Juventus to Manchester United this summer, with this the latest transfer in what has been a wild summer.

Manchester United confirm that Ronaldo is coming back

Following a day of speculation, Manchester United released a statement shortly before 17:00 BST to explain that Ronaldo will wear red again, once a few final details are ironed out.

“Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical,” their statement started.

“Cristiano, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has so far won over 30 major trophies during his career, including five UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, seven league titles in England, Spain and Italy, and the European Championship for his native Portugal.”

“In his first spell for Manchester United, he scored 118 goals in 292 games.

“Everyone at the club looks forward to welcoming Cristiano back to Manchester.”

It was between 2003 and 2009 that Ronaldo previously played for Manchester United, becoming a superstar after arriving as an unproven teenager from Sporting CP, following an excellent performance against Alex Ferguson’s side in a friendly match.

Now aged 36, Ronaldo is nearing the end of his career and will look to win more titles in red.
