Christian Eriksen Discharged From Hospital
After one of the most emotionally testing weeks in Danish sporting history, Christian Eriksen has finally been discharged from a Copenhagen hospital after being fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).
Following his cardiac arrest and collapse in the Euro 2020 opener against Finland, there is a lot of unknowns regarding Eriksen’s future in the sport, but for the meantime the fact he is alive and well is positive news enough for us all.
The official Danish Football Association Twitter account released a statement on Friday afternoon confirming Eriksen had left the medical facility.
“Christian Eriksen has been through a successful operation and was today discharged from Rigshospitalet,” the statement read.
“Today he also visited the national team in Helsingor.
“From there he will go home and spend time with his family.”
In addition to the statement released by the federation, Eriksen himself had a message of thanks.
“Thank you for the massive number of greetings, it has been incredible to see and feel,” Eriksen stated.
“The operation went well and I’m doing well under the circumstances.
“It was really great to see the guys again after the fantastic game they played last night, no need to say but I will be cheering on them on Monday against Russia.”
