Benzema Is Out Of Match With Elche
Carlo Ancelotti has announced his Real Madrid squad for the LaLiga Santander match with Elche, and there is a notable absence in the form of Karim Benzema, with the leading talisman of the team being left out of the squad entirely.
Benzema had a sharp pain in his instep during recent matches after actually suffering the initial blow during the home defeat to Sheriff in the Champions League.
He played through the pain against Barcelona and Osasuna, but now it has been decided to give him the break he needs to overcome the minor problem.
Benzema didn’t feature in Friday’s final training session at Valdebebas, with Ancelotti aware that he will need the forward late on in the season.
Thus far in 2021/22, Benzema is the player with the third most minutes in Ancelotti’s squad behind Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao.
Los Blancos will be able to gauge just how effective they can be in attack without the French international, which makes Vinicius Jr’s return to form very welcome at this juncture.
