Bayern Munich Extends Lead After Freiburg Win

Bayern Munich moved four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table with a 2-1 win over Freiburg at a snowy Allianz Arena on Sunday.

The hosts went into the break in front thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s 21st league goal of the season.

Freiburg got back on level terms around the hour mark when Nils Peterson stooped low to guide a header goalwards, with Manuel Neuer unable to prevent it from crossing the line.

It was Thomas Muller, who had set up Lewandowski’s opener, who came up with the winning goal when he steered the ball into the far corner with 15 minutes to go.

After Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund dropped points earlier in the weekend, Bayern now hold a four-point lead at the top of the table.
