Atletico Madrid Dropped Two Points At Levante

Atletico Madrid lost further ground in the LaLiga Santander title race as they could only manage a 2-2 draw at Levante on Thursday evening.

VAR was Los Rojiblancos’ nemesis at the Estadi Ciutat di Valencia, as they were pegged back twice through a pair of Enis Bardhi penalties.

The away side broke the deadlock with just 12 minutes on the clock, as Antoine Griezmann raced into the box to nod home the first goal in LaLiga Santander of his second spell at Atletico Madrid.

However, Las Granotas were level on the half hour mark, as Bardhi made no mistake from twelve yards following Luis Suarez’s clumsy challenge on Ruben Vezo.

Cunha was introduced after 72 minutes and soon made a decisive impact, latching on to a delightful pass from Rodrigo De Paul to rifle home an unstoppable low effort.

But Cunha went from hero to zero with four minutes of normal time remaining, as he was adjudged to have handled a cross in the area, before Bardhi stepped up to dispatch his second penalty of the night.

The draw leaves Atletico sixth in the LaLiga Santander table on 19 points, and they will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Real Betis on Sunday.
