An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court  in Ekiti State has dissolved the nine-year-old marriage between one  Akeem Alesinloye and his wife, Bosede.

The court president, Mrs Olayinka Akomolede, granted the petitioner’s prayer of divorce on the grounds of adultery, frequent fighting and lack of care for the children.

According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Akeem, told the court that the respondent was fond of receiving calls from men whenever she was on the same bed with him.

The petitioner  also accused his wife of lacking motherly care for the children  and was always  attending parties and clubs on Fridays.

Akeem said he once became fed up with his wife and sent her packing after she abandoned her children and went to a night club without his consent.

The petitioner, who also accused his wife of absconding with his property in his absence, pleaded with the court for the dissolution of their marriage so that he can have peace of mind.

But Bosede, a hair stylist, denied the allegations.

She told the court that Akeem was not a caring husband and that he started misbehaving as soon as she gave birth to her children.

The respondent told the court that although she had reported him to his family, he had refused to change.

Bosede, who said she would not contest the prayer for divorce, however,  asked the court to compel Akeem to be paying N15,000 as monthly feeding allowance for the two children.

Akomolede, after hearing both parties, observed that the marriage had broken down irretrievably and consequently dissolved the union.

She awarded custody of the two children to the respondent for proper care.

Olayinka, however, ordered Akeem to be paying N5,000 as monthly feeding allowance for the two children.

The sum, she said, was to be paid  through the registrar of the court  to the respondent.

She also granted unrestricted access to the petitioner to visit his children.
