Updates to FaceTime, focus features to keep you on task, and enhanced on-device intelligence are just some of the perks that Apple users will benefit following the release of iOS 15 on September 20.

Apple have been busy creating their latest software update to give their customers a more streamlined experience on their devices, but what does it mean for those of us using Apple products.

“iOS 15 helps users stay connected while sharing experiences in real time, gives them new tools to help reduce distraction and find focus,” are a few of the perks that Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi told their website.

“[iOS 15] uses intelligence to enhance the photos experience, and, with huge upgrades to Maps, brings new ways to explore the world. We can’t wait for customers to experience it.”

One of their biggest changes comes to FaceTime, the video calling function of Apple, as now Portrait mode is available, a grid-view is now available on group calls, and now non-apple users can join FaceTime via a link.

Another feature of the iOS 15 update is SharePlay which gives users the chance to stream music, TV programmes and films simultaneously to communicate and share their experiences at the same time.

For those who struggle to concentrate or relax, the new focus function looks to help users achieve what they want from their days through personalisation features.

Alongside this, how you receive notifications has been updated visually and by using data intelligence to prioritise different messages and give them priority by no longer being in the summary section of your notifications.

There has also been updates to their Safari interface, Apple Maps layout, contactless keys can be stored in the Apple wallet, and privacy features have been enhanced with speech recognition.
