Ambode Assures Of Judicious Implementation Of N1 trillion Budget In 2018

Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has assured of judicious implementation of the N1.046 trillion budget in the year 2018.

 

Speaking at the yearly conference of the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Lagos State chapter however solicit full support of the Nigerian media in the realisation of the Lagos mega city project,  assuring that the numerous infrastructure projects would be completed as scheduled.

 

Ambode,  who was represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Abdul Akeem Abdul Lateef, said the government is irrevocably committed to the completion of the Agege bridge in 10 months,  the airport road in 15months and the Oshodi world class districts.

 

He noted that that the full implementation of the budget would give Lagos a facelift adding that new programmes are underway to to ensure that the traffic gridlock in Lagos is dislodged.

 

Chairman of the event, Prof Lai Olurode, bemoaned a situation whereby good news about Islam and Muslims are very rare in the media. He thereby enjoined the practitioners to seek knowledge about Islam in other to know beautiful etiquettes of the religion.

 

Olurode who enjoined more Muslims to invest in the media said the situation today is prevailing because media ownership are middle class and Christians orientations.

 

He cautioned the international community on persecution of Muslims, stating that the President of United States, Donald Trump’s unleteting war has continued to promote hatred of Muslims nationwide.

 

However, Abdul Lateef, in his goodwill message, said “nothing is wrong with the Nigerian constitution, but a lot is wrong with the operatives of the law.”

 

He said the Muslims are pretending not to be a key player in the Nigerian project, urging qualified Muslims to take up relevant public positions and play active role in politics.

 

Abdul Lateef however, challenged the media practitioners to always be on the path of excellence, noting that “the change agenda is perceived to have failed because of the role of the media. The change we wanted is actually happening but average Nigerian does not know the difference between transitional change and Big Bang change,  and what we are seeing today is transitional change because change cannot come in a day, ” he said.
