The announcement of the Nintendo Switch OLED Model has brought about significant criticism towards the Japanese video gaming company, although this is expected when you have such a vast fanbase, you aren’t going to be able to please everyone.

Fans, though, had hoped for something rather different when it came to Nintendo’s newest hybrid console, especially when fans of Sony and Microsoft have seen their own next generation systems launch in 2020.

The Nintendo Switch OLED Model brings a series of improvements when compared to previous versions of the system, not least with the sharp improvement in image quality and the larger screen.

“The new addition to the Nintendo Switch family will offer more intense colours on its screen that has been enlarged to 7 inches and given a high contrast,” a company statement read.

When is the Nintendo Switch OLED Model coming out?

Despite the wave of criticism, the console is nevertheless expected to be a bestseller, especially because of the innovative colour scheme that has been used to attract buyers.

The launch date for the Nintendo Switch OLED Model is Friday, October 8, 2021, with sales forecasts predicting that Nintendo will do very well indeed.

“The console is a similar size to the Nintendo Switch, but incorporates a larger OLED screen, this new console gives gamers another option to play the vast and ever-growing catalogue of Nintendo Switch games how and where they want,” the statement continued.

How much does the OLED Nintendo Switch cost?

Regarding the price, the Nintendo Switch OLED Model will be more expensive in Europe than in the United States of America, mainly due to the differing values of their respective currencies.

Nintendo’s newest release will be priced at 349 euros, although there has been an unreleased bundle pack which includes Metroid Dead that will release on October 8, which will come with the new console and will cost just under 60 euros.
