Again, National Grid Collapses, 5th In 2024

The national electricity grid collapsed again on Monday, plunging some parts of the country into darkness.

An official of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, who confirmed the incident to Punch correspondent, said it was a partial collapse.

The TCN official, who did not want to be named because he was not authorised to speak to the press, confirmed that power is being restored gradually.

It was observed that total generation on the grid dropped to zero as of 1:33 pm on Monday.

This is the fifth collapse in 2024.
