175 Graduate From Lagos Lawmaker’s Computer Training Programme

One hundred and seventy five people have graduated from the free computer training programme organised by a lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Olumuyiwa Jimoh.
The graduation ceremony which was held on Democracy Day was orgainsed under the auspices of the Muyiwa Jimoh Foundation (MYF).
According to the lawmaker who represents Apapa State Constituency 2 in the state Assembly told thegazellenews.com that the programme was meant to train and empower the people of his constituency in computer knowledge which will make them self sufficient.
“We believe in teaching people how to fish rather than giving them fishes to eat so we are doing this to make the beneficiaries self sufficient, became self employed and ultimately employers of labour,” he said.
Jimoh said that the graduates three sets of different phases of the programme who have undergone training in computer knowledge in the past six months. “We started the programme with school leavers only but when demand for participation continues to come from other sectors, we had no option than to extend participation to other groups and we have been having tremendous response from the people,” the lawmaker said.
Jimoh stated further that screening for participation in the next phase of the programme is on already. “We are doing it in phases because we cannot accommodate everyone at the same time but I want to assure that we will definitely try our best to cover every sector,” he assured.
