Jalsa 2017: Over 35, 000 Attends Ahmadiyya Nigeria Annual Convention

…Fashola challenges leaders on divine laws

 

 

The Amir, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria, Dr Mashhud Adenrele Fashola, has challenged the religious and political leaders in the world to respect and practise the commandments of God in governance and justice administration.

Amir, who was speaking at the 65th Jalsa Salana (Annual Conference) of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria held between 22nd and 24th December, 2017 at Jamia Ahmadiyya Conference Ground, Owode Road, Ilaro, Ogun State, explained that no human efforts or activities of any government agencies or world leaders can solve the quagmire, rather all leaders and followers must imbibe the divine teachings, commandments and laws with a view to living in peaceful and just societies.

On the theme of the Conference “Social, Political and Economic Emancipation through Moral Re-Orientation”, he said it is until man reforms himself, Allah’s blessings and mercy would continue to desert him, stressing the need for justice to prevail in his interactions with other people so that their perceptions about Islam can change totally.

Delivering his lecture on the theme of the event, Alhaji Abdul Azeez Alatoye, Naib Amir, SouthWest of Nigeria, said the world is structurally retarding in social, political and economic ideological values owing to our failure to adhere to justice, noting that justice is crucial to the survival of mankind.

Naib Amir said for our social, economic and political lives to be enhanced and experienced peace, we have to retrace our steps back to the footsteps of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, quoting the Fifth Khalifa, Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, calling the world to follow the Holy Prophet’s ideals to engender global peace.

The special guests at the event, from different walks of lives showered encomium on Ahmadiyya for its huge contributions towards the growth and development of education and health services in Nigeria though tasked its leadership to ameliorate the sufferings of the people in these economic hardships.

Other highlight of this year’s Jalsa Salana include the Ahmadiyya Academic Awards given to 37 deserving males and females in various disciplines.

According to the Committee, 23 males and 14 females received the awards. They are as follows: 5 PhD holders, 11 Master’s Degrees, 19 First Degrees and 2 A’ Level holders.

Besides, 20 people were joined together as couples during the Marriage Solemnizaton (Nikah) at Jalsa.

Meanwhile, prayers were offered for the couples that Allah should bless the unions and grant them tranquillity and understanding among them.
