UK Govt Bans Hugs Between Premier League Players Due To COVID-19 Outbreak

Following a rise in COVID-19 infections in the United Kingdom, authorities have required teams to ask their players to avoid hugging each other during matches.

Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston recently asked footballers to act responsibly, yet despite his advice, clubs did not comply with the recommendations during last Tuesday’s matches.

According to the Premier League health protocols, players should avoid close contact with teammates and also avoid kissing the ball.

However, over the months regulations have not be followed until the recent emergence of the new coronavirus mutation in the UK.

“We are in a very dangerous place now,” England’s deputy chief medical officer Jonathan Van-Tam told LBC radio.

“Every close human contact that is avoidable should be avoided because one in three of us will get the infection and have no symptoms at all.”
