Tottenham Beat Sheffield United At Home

Tottenham gained some ground on the leaders in the Premier League table with a 3-1 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho left Gareth Bale on the bench once again for Spurs, with the Real Madrid loanee not making it on the pitch at all for this match.

The visitors took an early lead in Sheffield when Serge Aurier nodded in from a corner. Harry Kane added a second goal before half time from the edge of the box.

Chris Wilder’s side improved after the break and found a route back into the game when David McGoldrick headed past Hugo Lloris.

However, Tanguy Ndombele’s exquisite lob three minutes later put Spurs back into a commanding position in the contest.

Mourinho left it late to use his substitutes, throwing on Lucas Moura, Carlos Vinicius and Davinson Sanchez in the closing stages while Bale sat in the stands.

The win takes Spurs level on points with Liverpool in the Premier League, with Jurgen Klopp’s champions taking on leaders Manchester United later on Sunday.
