The Marginal Offside That Condemned Chelsea To FA Cup Final Defeat…In The 90th Minute!
Chelsea celebrations were cut short as VAR denied them of a late equaliser in their FA Cup final defeat to Leicester.
Youri Tielemans’ strike had put Brendan Rodgers’ side in front before Chelsea had the ball in the net in the 90th minute.
Thiago Silva played a cross-field pass to find former Leicester defender Ben Chilwell, who chested the ball down inside the penalty area.
The England international’s effort was cleared off the line by Caglar Soyuncu, only for the ball to ricochet into the net off Wes Morgan.
Chilwell didn’t hesitate to celebrate against his former club as over 6,000 Chelsea fans went wild in one half of Wembley.
Their joy was short-lived, though, as VAR spotted that Chilwell was marginally offside when Silva’s pass was played. Chelsea went on to lose the game 1-0.
