When the Federal Executive Council (FEC), on Wednesday, approved roads and other developmental projects worth N62 billion in various parts of the country, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), a pro-Labour Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), was full of praises for the Federal Government’s love for the development of infrastructure in the country.
The NGO, Labour & Workers Welfare Advocacy Center, expressed the delights that, besides the development of infrastructure that would move the country to the next level, it would also serve as an avenue for job opportunities for the teeming youth and applicants across the country.
A statement from the NGO’s Convener, Comrade Omobanke Razak, added that the heart-warming aspect of the project is that the ministry that would handle vital parts of the job is directly under the workaholic Minister, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), who the NGO said has never disappointed the good people of Nigeria.
While buttressing the assertion that Fashola would not disappoint, the group reminded how he has been handling the avalanche of works being piled before him since his advent as minister, asking, “which of the works has he failed to deliver in perfect condition?”
The statement said it is gratifying to note that, on the issue of infrastructure development in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has convinced the populace that he has an insatiable passion for it, asserting that, “that must have informed his decision to go for Fashola, who has proved his mettle since when he was the governor of Lagos State,
“During the electioneering towards the 2019 general election that threw up President Muhammadu Buhari as the new Nigeria’s leader for the second term, his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has made it abundantly clear that development of infrastructure across the country would be its priority.
“And no sooner than its candidate, Muhammadu Buhari was sworn-in on May 29, 2019, than he left nobody in doubt that, he had an insatiable lust for infrastructure development. And true to his disposition towards standard infrastructure, Buhari has since plunged his administration into the development of all the structures that could make life worthy of living for the citizenry,” the NGO quoted a source.
Against the foregoing, the statement enthused that, since Fashola has not disappointed the nation up till this moment, the whole country can go home and relax having in their mind that, the newly approved projects are also in a safe hand, thanking God that blessed President Buhari with a goal-getter in the person of Babatunde Raji Fashola (BRF).
Concluding, the statement, therefore, enjoined the good people of Nigeria, most especially all the stakeholders and property owners along the routes that would be affected by the construction works to support and cooperate with the government whenever Fashola moves the contractors move to sites, reminding that, “gains come after pains.”
