Edo Govt Reassures Of Sustained Investment In Education, More Support For Teachers

The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the education sector, ensuring capacity building for teachers in the state in order to improve the standard of education and ensure a better future for every Edo child.

Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., gave the assurance when he received members of the Edo State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) who were on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Benin City.

The Head of Service said that the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration is doing all within its power to improve the education sector and bring development to all other sectors of the state, adding that the state government has partnered with the NUT to make sure that the education sector is given utmost priority.

Okungbowa stated that “what we hope is that the relationship between the government and teachers in the state will be improved upon’’.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Union, Comrade Okhueleigbe Pius, said they were in the office of the Head of Service to introduce the new State’s Secretary, Comrade Igbelowowa Solomon, who has just been posted to the State to replace the erstwhile secretary, Comrade Moni Mike Modesty Itua.

He expressed appreciation to the Governor for giving the education sector the desired attention, reassuring the union’s readiness to work with the government to engender progress.
