Norway Win Without Haaland Scoring, Lose Odegaard To Injury

Spread the love

Norway breezed to a 3-0 win away to Gibraltar on Wednesday evening, getting their World Cup qualification campaign off to a perfect start.

The biggest surprise of the evening was that Erling Haaland started the game and didn’t score, with Alexander Sorloth, Cristian Thorstvedt and Jonas Svensson netting for the visitors.

The hosts had done well to stay on level terms for much of the first half, but Sorloth and Thorstvedt struck in the 43rd and 45th minutes to give Norway a 2-0 lead at the break. It wasn’t all good news for Norway though, and Arsenal fans were left sweating when Martin Odegaard was forced off injured.

With just 12 minutes of the second half played, Svensson made it three and killed off any chance Gibraltar had of coming back or even making things interesting.

Haaland was taken off with an hour played.
