Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have confirmed that they will no longer be part of the British royal family.

The couple will not abandon their tittles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but that they will not represent the family in royal duties and thus, will not be considered as ‘working members’.

“While all are saddened by their decision, The Duke and Duchess remain much loved members of the family,” read a statement by the Buckingham Palace.

“The honorary military appointments and royal patronages held by the Duke and Duchess will therefore be returned to Her Majesty.”

In fact, Prince Harry and Megan had already abandoned these duties in 2020 and they are expected to share more details about their decision in an interview with American TV star Oprah Winfrey on March 7.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organisations they have represented regardless of official role,” a statement released by the couple said.
