A Jadon Sancho goal in the second half was enough for Borussia Dortmund to grab a narrow 1-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach and seal qualification to the DFB-Pokal semi-finals.

However, Edin Terzic had to replace Raphael Guerreiro just five minutes into the game after the left-back picked up an injury ahead of their Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Sevilla next week.

Neither Marco Reus nor Erling Haaland managed to hit the target in the first half, before Marcus Thuram saw his goal being ruled out for offside.

Haaland received the ball in Monchengladbach’s box after the interval, but this time he managed to beat the opposition goalkeeper, before the referee disallowed his goal due to a foul.

Ramy Bensebaini wasted a big opportunity to score from a corner kick for the hosts and Sancho unleashed a brilliant effort from the edge of the box to open the scoring for Dortmund.

Mats Hummels failed to put the game to bed with six minutes to go and Mahmoud Dahoub received a second yellow card to leave Dortmund down to 10 men.

Yet, Monchengladbach failed to find an equaliser and Terzic’s side became the first to clinch qualification to the DFB-Pokal semi-finals.
