IFK: KWSG Pledges To Complete Ongoing Road Projects

The Kwara State Government has again assured that all on-going projects would be completed before the expiration of the Ahmed-led administration in 2019.

 

 

The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Aro Yahaya made this known while on inspection to on-going projects across the State on Friday.

 

 

He ruled out insinuations in some quarters that projects would be abandoned, stressing that all projects funded under the Infrastructure Development Fund (IF-K) model would be carried to completion.

 

Alhaji Yahaya particularly allayed the general public’s fears about the completion of the Geri-Alimi Split Diamond Underpass, stressing that it will not be abandoned.

 

 

On the dualization of 9 kilometers Kulende-UITH-Oke-Ose road, he disclosed that all affected property owners along the axis had been compensated before the project was embarked on.

 

 

Also speaking, the Project Manager, Chelfom Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd, Engr. Dory Mastoury assured of the completion of the project on scheduled.

 

 

He disclosed that as at the end of June, 10 per cent of the job had been completed and assured that the project would be delivered in September 2018.

 

At the Share-Oke-Ode road, the commissioner expressed satisfaction on the level of work done, noting that the asphalt overlaid 13.8km of roads in sections 1&2 had been done according to specification.

 

 

While inspecting the Illala Bridge, Alhaji Yahaya urged the contractor to speed up the pace of work to justify the money paid so far.

 

 

Alhaji Yahaya therefore warned contractors handling various road projects across the state against shoddy jobs stressing the need for them to adhere strictly to specification.
