Ten-man Deportivo Wrestle Point Off Eibar

Deportivo La Coruna’s decision to give a start to their fifth different goalkeeper of the campaign was the integral plotline to a rollercoaster 1-1 draw at home to Eibar on Sunday.

Ukrainian international Maksym Koval signed on loan from Dynamo Kyiv in January and had conceded within 11 minutes of his debut as he misjudged a ball across the box and haphazardly presented an open goal to Takashi Inui.

However Depor’s luck turned when Florin Andone hit the woodwork twice in quick succession, the second of which bounced onto Eibar keeper Marko Dmitrovic and across the goalline.

The first half hadn’t even ended when Koval hit the headlines once more, miscontrolling a simple passback by a good 15 yards, forcing him to chase after the ball and arrive just after Joan Jordan had stolen possession, who Koval completely wiped out.

Given a straight red card, Deportivo were drawn into a dogfight of a second half and performed admirably to cling onto a point that keeps them within touching distance of relegation survival.
