Former Germany striker Lukas Podolski will be a free agent this summer and could be set for a new adventure in Mexico, with Queretaro keen to add him to their squad.

The Liga MX side are no stranger to a high-profile signing, having previously turned heads by dealing in Ronaldinho in 2014. They also brought in former Manchester United wing-back Antonio Valencia for last season.

It seems the Gallos Blancos want to make Podolski their next marquee signing and Valencia has even joined the recruitment pitch with a social media message to the German.

“Lukas, the end of my career and the short time I was at Gallos was very enjoyable,” tweeted Valencia.

“You won’t regret joining Club Queretaro.”

Podolski is 36 years old and has spent the last year and a half at Antalyaspor in Turkey, scoring seven goals in 47 games. His contract expires at the end of June.

Queretaro’s interest is very real and they are believed to have already made contact with the former Bayern Munich and Arsenal forward, hoping to convince him to join for the Apertura 2021.
